Thirteen has been lucky for Beaulieu Preparatory School. We complete our thirteenth year of operation in December 2008 and a busy and special year it has been. Special because our founding Grade Nought Class has matriculated. Fourteen of these young men and women, have become our first ‘Preppies’, that is, pupils who’ve completed Grade 0 to Matric in Beaulieu schools. A further 22 young people joined them whilst they were still in the prep school and the group constituted 36 of Beaulieu College’s 80 Matrics in 2008.

Cedarwood School is a small remedial school; Grade R - Grade 8 (Gr9 in 2010) in the congenial country setting of Glenferness - north of Lonehill - for children who have mild to moderate support needs which prevent them from coping adequately in a mainstream school environment. Cedarwood School is fully inclusive. We accommodate up to 3 more “high support needs” pupils in each class in the true practice of inclusion. These pupils work on their own Individual Educational programmes (IEP’S) especially designed for their individual needs.
Preamble Whereas we are gathered together as Montessori educationists working in the Southern African context; We are united in our common respect for and commitment to the educational philosophies and methods originated by Maria Montessori; We understand that there are in Southern Africa, as in other parts of the world, differing interpretations of and emphases in Montessori education; However, we regard these differences as sources of strength and constructive debate in our efforts to adapt and grow the Montessori method in the context of the developmental and educational realities of our different countries and our region as a whole; Our Montessori community is one that values its diversity of cultural contexts, community sites and pedagogical styles, and so seeks to resist narrow dogmas about and sectarian interpretations of Montessori; Now therefore we constitute the Southern African Montessori Association and adopt this Constitution to guide its activities in the future.
